Chelsea fans, relish the thrill and anticipation; if the plan unfolds, a new era begins Saturday, spearheaded by 26-year-old Christopher Nkunku.

While he might not start or hit the St James' Park pitch, his mere presence this Saturday with the squad, ready for his team and manager, promises a morale boost for everyone.

Chelsea's front office has secured commendable signings, albeit focused on potential rather than immediate impact.

However, in Nkunku, Chelsea possesses a player for the present—a catalyst for the attack and team dynamics. There's potential for him to emulate past greats, such as Eden Hazard, adding a dynamic element to the team.

We don't believe we're exaggerating, though it's acknowledged that Nkunku must defy recent trends for this to succeed. Yet, based on his Bundesliga performances, the Frenchman from RB Leipzig appears on paper as a potential standout for Chelsea, a player capable of making a significant impact.

Recipient of the Footballer of the Year in Germany, Bundesliga Player of the Year, and last season's Bundesliga top scorer—Nkunku has garnered an impressive array of individual accolades. Chelsea secured their new 26-year-old attacker, ensuring he joins with his prime years lying ahead.

Regarding his track record, there's little room for debate. However, he would be defying a recent pattern if he lives up to expectations. Chelsea's experience with bright attacking talents from Germany, including Werner and Havertz, winning the Champions League, hasn't translated into stellar performances in a Blue shirt.

The struggles of Jadon Sancho at Manchester United underline the widening gap between the Bundesliga and the Premier League.

A crucial distinction lies in Nkunku's journey. Unlike Sancho, Werner, and Havertz, Nkunku's transition to Chelsea marks his second senior career move.

Having previously adjusted to a new country and league after leaving PSG for Leipzig, he brings experience in handling fan expectations and media scrutiny to his Chelsea venture.

Similar to Erling Haaland, Nkunku's situation draws parallels. Recent insights reveal the transformed version of Haaland at Manchester City, highlighting the stark contrast from his early days at Borussia Dortmund.

Julian Brandt, Haaland's former teammate, marvels at Haaland's rapid improvement in skills like heading, first touch, and right foot during their time together. This transformative phase was crucial for Haaland's success, suggesting a similar intermediate step could be pivotal for Nkunku in reproducing his RB Leipzig form at Chelsea. Additionally, acknowledging Nkunku's world-class potential, as observed by others during his standout performances last season.

Last season, Pep Guardiola expressed admiration for Nkunku before Manchester City faced Leipzig in the Champions League. Shortly after, Dortmund's president Reinhold Lunow lamented Chelsea securing a deal for Nkunku, acknowledging the then 25-year-old as his "dream signing."

Chelsea indeed possesses a promising asset, at least on paper. Despite challenges like knee surgery, a missed preseason, and the rigorous demands of the Premier League, Nkunku has a track record of overcoming such obstacles. Blues fans have no reason for pessimism, given his resilience and past triumphs over adversity.

Saturday at Stamford Bridge presents a compelling case for including Nkunku, even if Mauricio Pochettino opts for caution. His presence on matchday is valuable not just for his experience but also for team camaraderie and fan connection. Allowing him to find his place and experience a Premier League home game is significant.

In a home game against a an opponent like Brighton, with minutes ticking down, deploying Nkunku could offer the chance for an instant impact. It seems like Saturday at Stamford Bridge could be tailor-made for him.

Acknowledging the challenging 18 months for Chelsea, it's fair to say this column has scrutinized the team during that period. However, the current moment is one for Blues fans to savor, dream, and revel in.

Labeling him as the new Hazard is a possibility. Regardless, Chelsea fans should relish the anticipation, as it might signify the start of a brighter chapter.
